📌10 days of Dhul Hijjah

We should make the most of the best 10 days by elevating our acts of worship.

All good deeds are greatly rewarded during the blessed 10 days of Dhul Hijjah. Most especially on the 9th day of Dhul Hijjah, the Day of Arafah.

Praying, Reading the Quran, making Dua (supplication), seeking Allah’s forgiveness (Istighfar), Tawbah (repentance), giving in charity and being good to our families, and other voluntary (nafl) righteous deeds of worship.

30 short Arabic Duas with English translation
We have made a list of various categories of short Arabic duas.

To accelerate learning and memorisation, incorporate the duas during real-life moments. For example, duas before meals and after meals should be done, duas for travelling, duas after waking up and so on.

Arabic duas for eating or drinking
1. Before Eating
Ref: Sunan Abi Dawood 3767

Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيمَا رَزَقْتَنَا وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Transliteration:
Allahumma barik lana fima razaqtana waqina azaban-nar

Translation:
O Allah! Bless us in what You have provided us with and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

2. After Eating

Arabic:
الْـحَمْدُ للهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا وَجَعَلَنَا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ

Transliteration
Alhamdu lillaahil-ladhee at’amanaa wa saqaana wa ja’alanaa min-al-Muslimeen

Translation
All praise is for Allah who fed us and gave us drink and made us Muslims.

Transliteration
Bismika Allahumma amutu wa ahya

All praise is for Allah who gave us life after having taken it from us, and unto Him is the resurrection.

Bismillah, tawakkaltu ‘alallah, wala hawla wala quwwata illa billah

In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no power nor might except with Allah.

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ

Transliteration
Subhanalladhi sakhkhara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu muqrineen. Wa inna ila Rabbina lamunqaliboon

Translation
Glory to Him who has brought this (vehicle) under our control, though we were unable to control it. And indeed, to our Lord, we will surely return.

Transliteration
Alhamdulillahil ladhi saqaana 'adhban furaatan birahmatihi walam yaj'alhu milhan ujaajan bidhunoobina

Translation
All praise is for Allah who gave us sweet, refreshing water by His mercy and did not make it salty and bitter due to our sins.

Arabic Duas for sneezing
10. After Sneezing
Ref: Sahih al-Bukhari 6224

Arabic
الْـحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ

Transliteration
Alhamdulillah

Translation
All praise be to Allah.

When some sneeze beside you — When the person sneezes and says:

ٱلْـحَـمْدُ للهِ – Alhamdulillah – All praise is for Allah.

You should say in response(second person)

Transliteration
Yarhamuk Allah

Translation
May Allah have mercy on you.

Then the person who sneezed should reply(the sneezer)

Transliteration
Allaahumma lakal-hamdu 'Anta kasawtaneehi, 'as'aluka min khayrihi wa khayri maa suni'a lahu, wa 'a'oothu bika min sharrihi wa sharri ma suni'a lahu

Translation
O Allah, praise is to You. You have clothed me. I ask You for its goodness and the goodness of what it has been made for, and I seek Your protection from the evil of it and the evil of what it has been made for.

Transliteration
Allaahumma 'asqinaa ghaythan mugheethan maree'an maree'an, naafi'an ghayradhaarrin, 'aajilan ghayra 'aajilin.

Translation
O Allah, shower upon us abundant rain, beneficial, not harmful, swiftly and not delayed.

مُطِرْنَا بِفَضْلِ اللهِ وَ رَحْمَتِهِ

Mutirnaa bifadhlillaahi wa rahmatihi.

We have been given rain by the grace and mercy of Allah
