Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun, has announced Solomon Adeola, senator representing Ogun west, as the preferred governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state for the 2027 elections.

Abiodun announced Adeola in Abeokuta, the state capital, on Monday as the APC governorship candidate during a caucus meeting of the party.

BREAKING: Iyabo Obasanjo suspends Ogun governorship bid

Iyabo Obasanjo has suspended her aspiration to contest the Ogun state governorship election in 2027.
The daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo announced the development in a statement on Monday.

She attributed her decision to the endorsement of Senator Solomon Adeola as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the election.

INEC rejects calls for removal of Amupitan, as Kogi youths protest ‘sponsored propaganda’ 13/04/2026

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rejected calls for the removal of Joash Amupitan, its chairman, describing such demands as unconstitutional.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Adedayo Oketola, chief press secretary (CPS) to Amupitan, said the commission’s leadership is governed by constitutional provisions, particularly section 157 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which outlines the process for appointment and removal.
