Women in Renewable Energy Association (WIRE-A) has announced a strategic partnership with the Bank of Industry (BOI) aimed at expanding financial inclusion for women-led businesses in Nigeria’s renewable energy sector.
The collaboration was unveiled on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, during the inauguration of WIRE-A Lagos State Executives held in Anthony Village, Lagos. Representatives of BOI were present at the event, where discussions focused on improving access to financing for women entrepreneurs within the renewable energy ecosystem.
According to BOI representatives, the bank is willing to provide loan facilities of up to ₦350 million at single-digit interest rates to credible women-led businesses operating in the sector. The funding opportunities fall under BOI’s renewable energy financing schemes, including its Renewable Energy Loan, Climate Loan, and GLOW Loan initiatives.
As part of the process, BOI emphasized the importance of proper documentation and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)-aligned business records as prerequisites for accessing financing. The bank integrated WIRE-A members into its documentation framework required for loan applications.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Anita Nana Okuribido, President of WIRE-A, commended BOI for the partnership and called for a follow-up workshop to train members on documentation requirements and business credibility standards necessary to secure financing.
Also speaking, Eng. Janet Alabi-Eye, Lagos State Coordinator of WIRE-A, appealed to BOI to collaborate with the association at its forthcoming Women Green Summit scheduled for August. She noted that the summit would provide an opportunity to further educate women entrepreneurs on available loan opportunities within the renewable energy space.
The partnership is expected to strengthen access to affordable capital for women-led renewable energy businesses and deepen participation in Nigeria’s growing clean energy market.
