How I ruined my supposed intended shakara Egusi soup.

So wifey have been working on-site and was returning home after 2wks at work.
I decided to surprise and possibly oppresses her by cooking egusi soup so she will taste my delicious culinary skill, make I do her shakara small say na me sabi cook pass, atleast all of you know wifey is a master chef a caterer and she has been oppressing me with diffrent delicacies so I felt I have my chamce to return this, so I made my plans to make egusi soup, check the kitchen cabinet, thank God egusi is there and all other ingredients, so I told my shop neighbour to help me buy meat and fish so I can start my egusi culinary skill cooking o, neighbour helped with meat and fish, so I went to get veggies for the soup
so I can make it before the boys come back from school by 5pm.

Now how I unknowing set up myself started when I decided to buy bitter leaf instead of my usual ugwu, I was even happy that the woman have already squeezed the leave ope I won't stress myself.
I boiled the meat and then make my egusi in the style my mama taught us which have never failed me, i added fish and other ingredients and then I scattered the bitterleaf on the egusi soup which was popping up on fire with the fish and meat , I started singing that everything is working out well then I tested the soup, i discovered it tasted bitter , then I vex added all the spices and seasoning i see to suppress the bitterness with confidence I said wow my soup is set, then I made eba for the boys, i didn't want to stress my self with semo.
My boys came back from school and I boasted to them that I made the most delicious egusi soup and they should let's me know when they are set to eat so I can serve them.
Prolly not upto 2 mins, I saw the eldest that likes food like kilode stood up, then the others, they took the plate of soup and eba back to the kitchen and I was like haba this children must be very hungry to rush this food o, then I asked them do they want extra eba, that was when my 2nd boy Noble said "we could not even eat the food cos the soup tastes like agbo (herb)" shey wetin I hear so, I went to the kitchen and tasted the soup 😀 that was when I knew I have ruined the soup o, I started vexing that I added too much bitter leaf, so I stylishly told my neighbour that helped with the meat, see wetin happened o, she just asked me if I parboiled the bitterleaf I said how na I didn't that they have already washed it, she started laughing o, that I should have parboiled it to remove the bitterness, na that time my eyes clear say see gbo be o, I use my hand do myself, shey make I remove the meat and fish troway the soup, she said I should remove the bitterleaf, me no get that time o, madam chef will come and use her culinary skills to salvage this soup na emilokan renowned shege be this o.
As for you bitterleaf *Never again* !!!
