Another year to give thanks to the Lord, for He is good and His mercy endures forever.

I count my blessings and I’m grateful to you Lord. I share your glory with no man.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY To me!

A senior friend of mine recently turned 50 and shared the below life nuggetsy

He said…

Here's a small list of thing's I've learnt in my 50 years on earth. They are not prescriptive, just patterns learnt over time. Some I have not done enough of but I've been self-aware enough to better understand with time.

1. Be easy to work with. People do business with & promote those they like. This is not about being a pushover. There is a balance. Find it.

2. After the first 5 to 7 years of your career, technical skill begin to matter less. Growth becomes about people, relationships, & how useful you are to those with power.

3. Read the room. My first job was in advertising, 25 years ago. I've pivoted sectors, roles & specializations multiple times when I noticed change was coming. Don't wait to be steamrolled.

4. Help people who cannot help you back. Pay things forward. It returns.

5. Make friends with people ahead of you. Their lives are a preview of what yours can be.

6. Know the price of your ambition and decide if you will pay it. There is always a price. Pretending otherwise can the most expensive mistake.

7. Your parents will not always be here. Play with them. Record them. Tell them you love them every time, like it could be the last. Because it could.

8. Be useful. To your family. Your community. Your country. Not later. Now.

9. Know when to walk away. From bad relationships. Jobs that no longer serve you. Old versions of yourself keeping you stuck.

10. Never lie to yourself. You can deceive anyone else, but self-deception is the most dangerous kind.

11. Pay attention to warnings. Most trouble in life announces itself before it arrives. Targets you keep missing. Close shaves that keep getting closer. Habits you know are wrong. Watch & make changes before changes unmake you.

12. Do difficult things. Apply for roles you think you are underqualified for. Ask when you are 50% ready. Try, so your 60-year-old self knows you used every chance.

13. Enjoy your children. Play with them. Once they hit 13, treat them like young adults. Tell them WHY you want them to do things, not just because you said so. I learnt this late. But I learnt it.

14. Take lots of photos. I have under 80 photos from 2000 to 2022. Twenty-two years. Don't make that mistake.

15. Calm down. Nobody is leaving this world alive. Balance hard work with what the French call joie de vivre: the joy of living. My kids call me "Faaji Daddy." I wear it with pride. We don't have forever. Make it count.

Have a wonderful week ahead.

I want to celebrate Mr. Tony Elumelu and wish him a glorious Happy Birthday. I follow Tony Elumelu a lot and I’ve been inspired with what he has done with Tony Elumelu Foundation over the years. In 2016 that inspiration led me to start The Chapp-Jumbo Foundation. One day I will share the story.

Winning With Communication: Insights From Professionals Who Shape the Story.

Across Nigeria and the wider West African region, communication has undergone a remarkable transformation. What was once considered a support function, often brought in at the end of the company or during a crisis, has evolved into a critical strategic driver of business and reputation.

I’m very pleased to be moderating this session with seasoned communications professionals. My Oga Andy Odeh, Chief Communications Officer at NNPC Limited, other distinguished panelists Sola Abulu (SCMP®) and Tolulope Olorundero.

If you are a Comms professional, follow IABC WAIG on LinkedIn for how to join the conversation starting in few minutes.

A day of history for Nigeria.

I wish to congratulate President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as King Charles III and Queen Camilla welcomed him and First Lady Remi Tinubu on Wednesday with a blaze of ceremonial grandeur and a gun salute. The Nigeria flag flies high on the streets of England and the United Kingdom feels our presence. A day of joy and a major milestone for the Presidency of Bola Tinubu. History won’t forget!
