Benue yams are renowned in Nigeria as some of the best species of the staple food. We were privileged to come across this market in Benue state, just at about its boundary with Taraba state.

Here are some of the traditional Nigerian meals we had on our stops during our tours. Most popular is the jollof rice which many Nigerians eat at least once a week 🥳

Many of the pictured foods can be found across the countries of west Africa- there are okro soup, smoked fish, pounded yam, roasted plantains and yams.

Which foods can you identify?

We stopped while on a tour of Lagos to get is some street food popularly known as Bole. This bundle is made up of roasted plantains, yams, and fish, all drenched in spicy palm oil and tomato sauce.

It's one of the better delicacies you will find in southern Nigeria, especially the south east.
