At Ngala, a life-saving moment reminded us why partnerships matter.

A mother arrived in critical condition after prolonged labor caused by cephalopelvic disproportion (CPD). With no time to lose, and in close collaboration with the General Hospital team, LABDI’s doctor stepped in and performed an emergency Caesarean section.

Both mother and baby survived.

This is more than a success story, it reflects the strength of collaboration and the growing trust in Life at Best Development Initiative - LABDI health services in Ngala.

We remain committed to delivering safe, quality care to mothers and newborns, every single day.

On International Women's Day, we are reminded that progress for women and girls must be rooted in three powerful commitments: Rights. Justice. Action.

Across communities, women continue to lead change, strengthen families, and drive development. Yet many still face barriers that limit their access to equal rights, protection under the law, and opportunities to thrive.

This year’s theme calls on all of us—governments, organizations, partners, and communities—to move beyond words and take deliberate action. Ensuring that women and girls can claim their rights, access justice systems that protect them, and participate fully in social and economic life is essential for building inclusive and resilient societies.

At its core, advancing gender equality is not only a moral imperative—it is a foundation for sustainable development and lasting peace.

Today and every day, we stand with women and girls everywhere, amplifying their voices and supporting actions that create a more just and equitable world.

Rights must be protected.
Justice must be accessible.
Action must be sustained.

We closed our last project year on a truly encouraging note with a field visit from the Save the Children International Regional Director of Operations, Miyuki Sato, to our implementation sites in Magumeri LGA, Borno State.

Beyond the meetings and site tours, what stood out most was the opportunity to listen directly to communities and partners. Engaging with project beneficiaries and key Child Protection and Education stakeholders—including Community-Based Child Protection Committee members, School-Based Management Committee members, Head Teachers, Education Secretaries, and Quality Assurance Officers—provided her team and her first-hand insight into how the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD)-supported project is strengthening child protection systems and improving access to quality education at the community level.

These moments of shared learning reaffirm why community-centered programming remains at the heart of our work.

We sincerely appreciate Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) for trusting Life at Best Development Initiative - LABDI's capacity to deliver impact, and we extend our gratitude to Save the Children International for their consistent guidance, partnership, and support.

As we step into a new year, LABDI remains committed to deepening impact, strengthening partnerships, and reaching even more lives with meaningful, sustainable interventions.
