SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS, QUALITY EDUCATION AND NGOs

The sustainable development goals(SDGs) has its goal number 4 as quality education. Education is regarded as the driving force for the achievement of all 17 SDGs.

According to UNESCO more than half of the children that are not enrolled in in school live in Sub- Saharan Africa. An estimated 50% of out- of- school- children of primary school age live in conflict affected areas.

According to the UN Today, NGOs play a key role in the march towards the attainment of sustainable development goals (SDGs) 2030. Challenges to Sustainable development process can be addressed when people at the bottom of the pyramid are empowered.

Project build a school, consist of a team of people that have seen the adverse effects of poor education and can profer solutions.

WHAT IS PROJECT BUILD A SCHOOL?

It is an NGO that started in 2018, in the aftermath of the farmers/herders crises. Many children in the Kelvictex Nursery and primary school, located in yagba community of Northbank Markurdi were displaced and left without access to education.

This school was a community driven school that was built by Mrs Abubu Victoria in 2016. The school started by Mrs Abubu offering free lessons to the underprivileged children of that community but Soon it become a school.

The school was tuition free, so the school couldn't provide all the education needed by the children and the children were at the risk of missing out on vital education opportunities, hindering their future, prospect and perpetuating the cycle of poverty.

Project build a school recognized how urgent the situation was and it was addressed by restructuring, renovating and building of the Kelvictex Nursery and primary school. And this is the mission of this NGO to other location in Nigeria.

This paved way for other projects in Benue State and neighboring state like Nasarawa State. And the beginning of something impactful in Nigeria.

Nelson Mandela said, " It is not beyond our power to create a world in which all children have access to good education". This is the reason for the Existence of project build a school.
