WHAT ARE THE NECESSARY THINGS TO DO WHEN YOUR PHONE FALL INSIDE WATER.

The first immediately things to do are;

Act fast—what you do in the first few minutes can save the phone.

Immediate steps;
Take it out of the water quickly The longer it stays, the more damage.

Switch it OFF immediately If it’s still on, power it down.

👉 Do NOT press buttons unnecessarily.
Remove everything removable;
SIM card
Memory card
Case/cover
Battery (if removable)

Dry the outside Use a clean cloth or tissue to wipe off visible water.
What NOT to do
❌ Don’t charge it
❌ Don’t turn it on to “check”
❌ Don’t shake it aggressively (pushes water deeper)
❌ Don’t use a hair dryer (heat can damage components)
Proper drying method
Put the phone in:

Silica gel (those small moisture packs)
Leave it at least 24–48 hours

Extra tip (very important)
If it fell in dirty water (like gutter, soap water, or salt water):
Lightly rinse it with clean water (yes, clean water is safer than dirty residue)

Then dry it properly as above
After drying
Reinsert SIM and battery
Power it on
If it doesn’t come on

You may need a technician—water can damage:
Screen
Charging port
Internal board

NOTE: Many people believe if phone fell inside water, they should put it inside dry rice.

Dry rice is not the best solution, even though it’s very popular.

Why rice is not ideal?
It absorbs moisture very slowly
It cannot remove water trapped inside the phone
Dust or tiny particles from rice can enter the charging port or speaker
It may give a false sense of safety while corrosion is still happening inside

What is better than rice
Silica gel packs (those “DO NOT EAT” sachets) → much more effective

Air drying in a well-ventilated place (fan breeze is good)
Keeping the phone in a dry, warm (not hot) environment

So what should you do?
If you don’t have silica gel:
Rice is okay as a last option, but don’t rely on it alone
Combine it with:
Good airflow
Enough time (at least 24–48 hours)

The most important thing (more than rice or silica)
👉 Do NOT power it on or charge it too early
That’s what usually kills water-damaged phones—not the water itself, but short-circuit when power flows.

Simple truth
Rice = emergency, low effectiveness
Silica gel / proper drying = much better
Patience = most important
