PROF BALA SEEKS CSR PROJECTS FROM FIRST BANK
responsibility programmes.
Prof. Bala made this appeal today when officials of First Bank Nigeria Plc, Minna Branch paid him a courtesy visit at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room, Main Campus.
The Vice-Chancellor said the bank should consider the university in its corporate social responsibility programmes in order to assist the institution in the provision of some critical infrastructure that would boost teaching and learning, adding that any investment in universities has multiplier effects.
“I want to appeal to you to always remember us in your corporate social responsibility programmes. We are particularly disturbed about our inability to provide transportation for our students to commute them from Bosso to GidanKwano Campus and hostel accommodation,” The VC stated.
He assured the bank of the University’s continuous support, while commending the bank for providing the much needed assistance to the institution’s Microfinance bank.
“I assure you that if we find it necessary to look for a commercial bank again for any reason, First Bank will be our first choice,” he disclosed.
Speaking earlier, the Business Manager of the bank, Mrs. UmmiNdaliman said the purpose of the visit was to congratulate the Vice-Chancellor on his appointment as well as to appreciate the University for the cordial business relationship between FUTMinna Microfinance Bank and First Bank Plc.
On the issue of corporate social responsibility, she stated that First Bank had donated a lecture theatre to the University in the past and assured the VC that the Bank would do more for the University.
