THE YORUBA SELF DETERMINATION POLL
The charters of the United Nations, Africa Union and ECOWAS, of which Nigeria is a member, give the people the right to self determination and to have a voice on how they would like to be governed.

Acting within the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which guarantees freedom of expression and association, a self-determination poll is hereby set up to determine the wish of the Yoruba people on how they would like to be governed.

Eligibility
The self-determination poll is open only to Yoruba people who are 18 years and above and who may be living in Nigeria or outside Nigeria. Anyone whose parent, the father or the mother or both, is of Yoruba descent is considered a Yoruba person.

Poll Schedule
Voting starts: 2 PM, May 12, 2021
Voting ends: 2 PM, June 12, 2021

Polls Result Declaration
The result of the poll when declared shall be made public by 5 PM June 12, 2021

The result shall be posted on this website and communicated to interested parties including the following

1. United Nations
2. Africa Union
3. ECOWAS
4. Federal Republic of Nigeria
5. States Governments and traditional rulers of states constituting, fully or partly, Yorubaland, which include Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun Ekiti, Ondo, Kwara, Kogi, Delta, Edo

Voter’s Registration and Voting
Voters at the poll are required to register before participating in the poll. Registration and voting shall commence, on this website, at poll commencement date of May 12, 2021

Data provided during Voters registration are not linked to the polls, thereby making your vote anonymous. This means no one knows how you voted in the poll. Please feel free to vote according to your conviction without any fear of harassment or intimidation from any quarter.

The personal data collected in the registration section of the polling exercise shall be kept strictly confidential and never shared with a third party. Any question that you are not comfortable answering could be skipped except for a few ones that are mandatory

Non-literate voters can be guided by literate family members and friends. Voters who do not own Internet enabled devices, required for participation in the poll, can be assisted by family members and friends who own one.

When the poll commences, voters will be required to choose one of the following options:

1. Restructuring of Nigeria: Devolving political power to the regions in Nigeria, in which Yorubaland would constitute a region.

2. Yoruba nation: Yorubaland standing as an independent country

3. Status quo: Retaining the existing political structure and the current constitution of Nigeria
