Forex indicators are the analysis tools that collect data on price or volume, apply a certain formula, and then convert this data into visual information on a chart. ⠀
By analyzing price movements, indicators provide information on the trend strength, momentum, potential market reversals, and possible entry/exit points.⠀
⠀
What are the types of Forex indicators?⠀
Indicators are divided into two main groups:⠀
- Trend indicators. It is a group of technical analysis tools used in cases of directional price movement (bullish, bearish, and sideways trends).⠀
- Oscillators. They are also known as range indicators because they are floating between extreme values and are often combined with moving average indicators. ⠀
Trend indicators are generally not associated with fixed bounds. ⠀
Oscillators most often fluctuate between 0 and 100, with the upper and lower bounds of the oscillators called overbought or oversold zones.⠀
⠀
Trend indicators⠀
Trend indicators are mainly used to identify the start point of a trend, its strength, or reversals through momentum analysis or divergence. The most common trend indicators are:⠀
MACD.⠀
ADX.⠀
Bollinger Bands⠀
Moving average.⠀
⠀
Range indicators⠀
Usually, they fluctuate between 0 and 100. The upper and lower bounds of the oscillators are also known as overbought or oversold. Here are some commonly known range indicators: ⠀
Stochastic Oscillator⠀
RSI.⠀
⠀
Volatility indicators⠀
Regardless of the range or trend, indicators that analyze volatility can be used in combination with other indicators, tools, and price action patterns to gather additional information about market conditions. ⠀
The three most common indicators that measure volatility are:⠀
Bollinger Bands⠀
ATR (Average true range)⠀
Parabolic SAR

1.. The desire to get rich quickly.⠀
This is what pushes newbies to forget about risk management.⠀
Advanced traders are primarily focused on following their Trading Style, which entails not a momentary fortune but a stable profit.⠀
⠀
2. Fear of losing a trade.⠀
The fear of losing money can be crippling to a trader. A beginner enters a trade with certain forecasts for the market movement and rejects the real state of affairs until the very last moment when possible minor losses turn into a burned initial deposit. ⠀
Experienced traders do not share unprofitable and profitable trades. They are keen on the results received from testing their trading strategy. Both profitable and less profitable trades are just one of the indicators for analyzing the trading style.⠀⠀
3. Lack of discipline and consistency.⠀
Newbies often change trading strategies and assets, and usually try to apply all the skills and information they have at the same time. Such trading behavior may lead to chaos in making trading decisions and completely uncontrollable losses.⠀
4. Overtrading.⠀
Newbies are usually utterly engrossed in trading; they open a large number of transactions without paying attention to assessing the market sentiment and analyzing already conducted transactions. ⠀
Advanced traders hone their trading style based on all past transactions, paying great attention to the analysis and collection of information to adjust the Trading Style.⠀
⠀
5. Ignoring the time of entering the market. ⠀
Advanced traders always pay special attention to the factors influencing volatility, namely:⠀
Important economic news and statistics⠀
Technical patterns and levels⠀
Non-standard geopolitical events.⠀
