President Muhammadu Buhari has claimed his administration has done “extremely well”, despite the limited resources available to it.

Buhari made this remark during a stakeholders’ meeting at the Imo State Government House in Owerri, the state capital.

The president inaugurated the Owerri-Orlu Road, phase one of the Owerri-Okigwe Road and the state House of Assembly complex rebuilt by the administration of the state governor, Hope Uzodimma.

He said his government was able to achieve much despite the scarce resources at his disposal.

“This administration has done extremely well. I had to say it because those who are supposed to say it are not doing so. I don’t know why,” the President said.

He extolled his regime for dislodging Boko Haram terrorists in the North East and tackling infrastructural decay which he said he inherited from the Peoples Democratic Party’s administration in 2015.

He commended Uzodimma for inviting him for the second time in a year to inaugurate projects executed by his administration.

He promised to continue to support all states irrespective of political affiliations, to deliver infrastructure assets.

Federal government has promised to support widows, youths, physically challenged persons, and vulnerable people in Imo State with economic support.

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Umar Farouq gave the assurance at the weekend during the flag-off of disbursement of cash grants alongside the digitized payment for conditional cash transfer.

She said 3,894 beneficiaries across the 27 local government areas of the state were selected to receive a twenty thousand Naira one-off Cash Grant for Vulnerable Groups while about 4,738 beneficiaries were selected for the government enterprise empowerment programme interest free loans.

Farouq said, “This is a programme designed by President Muhammadu Buhari administration for vulnerable and low-income Nigerians who are involved in some sort of commercial activity or capacity but have never had the opportunity to access loans.”

It is meant to give priority to the most vulnerable in our society, especially widows, youth, disabled and the displaced amongst others”.
