*OCORA INITIATIVE GAINS MOMENTUM AS IIRS ENGAGES KEY STAKEHOLDERS*

The Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS) organised a Stakeholders' meeting with the Honourable Commissioner for Finance and Coordinating Economy, Dr. Chuck Chukwuemeka, Local Government Chairmen and Revenue Officers of the LGAs , IIRS Revenue Heads, representatives from Interswitch, Compumetrics Solutions Ltd, and members of the Interim Market Committee at the Imo Digital City Limited to advance the implementation of the One Community One Revenue Agent (OCORA) initiative.

The Executive Chairman (IIRS) Justice R. Okoye outlined the initiative's objectives and implementation strategy, urging stakeholders to take ownership of the state-led reform. Participants also engaged in an interactive session and pledged their support for the successful rollout of OCORA.

In his remarks, the Honourable Commissioner for finance and coordinating economy, Dr Chuck Chukuemeka commended the stakeholders and urged them to fully embrace this technological Reforms.

The engagement reflects the commitment of the administration of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, to building a transparent, technology-driven revenue system in Imo State.

IIRS Celebrates April, May, and June Borns in Grand Staff Party

The Imo State Internal Revenue Service [IIRS] held a lively celebration to honor all staff members born in the months of April, May, and June.

The event, which brought together staff across departments, was marked with goodwill messages, cake cutting, and presentations to the celebrants. It provided a relaxed atmosphere for staff to connect outside official duties and strengthen team spirit within the Service.

The Executive Chairman of the Imo State Internal Revenue Service Mr Justice R.Okoye(FCA) was present at the celebration. In his remarks, he commended the celebrants for their dedication and contributions to IIRS, and encouraged all staff to keep upholding the Service’s core values of integrity, professionalism, and excellence in revenue administration.

The birthday celebration ended on a high note, with staff expressing appreciation to the management of IIRS for recognizing and celebrating them.

Driving Compliance, Expanding Growth: IIRS Engages Stakeholders on Haulage Collection

The Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS) convened a stakeholders’ engagement meeting on the ongoing Haulage Tax Collection Initiative, aimed at strengthening compliance, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing revenue generation across the state.
Dr. Chimezie Agbakwuru, Head of Debt Management and Enforcement and Coordinator of the Haulage Project, highlighted the progress recorded so far, key achievements, and operational challenges requiring the support and collaboration of stakeholders for effective resolution.
During the meeting, Super Agents had the opportunity to engage with members of the Interim Market Management Committee (IMC), fostering dialogue and strengthening partnerships necessary for the successful implementation of the initiative.
The Executive Chairman of IIRS, Justice R. Okoye, emphasized the growing acceptance and success of haulage systems across various states in Nigeria. He noted that the introduction of e-ticketing platforms has significantly improved revenue collection processes while creating employment opportunities and promoting transparency.
The Executive Chairman expressed confidence in the prospects of the Imo State Haulage Initiative, stating that with sustained commitment, stakeholder cooperation, and public compliance, the project is well-positioned to deliver similar benefits to the state.
He also introduced the OCORA Initiative, a pioneering Imo State-owned programme championed by IIRS and regarded as the first of its kind in the South-East. The initiative is designed to integrate the informal sector into the state's economic framework, broaden the tax base, and promote greater participation in economic development.
He likewise called on stakeholders to embrace both the Haulage and OCORA initiatives, stressing that they align with the vision of the Imo State Government to leverage technology, expand the tax net, improve service delivery, and drive inclusive economic growth for the benefit of all residents.
The engagement concluded with a renewed commitment from stakeholders to support the initiatives and work collaboratively towards achieving their objectives.
