Criminology has evolved over the centuries. Early perspectives were often simplistic, linking crime to moral failings or divine punishment. The formal study of criminology began in the 18th century.

1. Classical School (18th Century)
Focused on free will and rational choice. Crime is a product of individual decision-making.

2. Positivist School (19th Century)
Emphasized biological, psychological, and social determinants of criminal behavior. Crime is a product of external factors.

3. Sociological Criminology (20th Century)
