Nollywood Actress Chizzy Alichi Criticizes Asaba Filmmakers' Production Budgets

Chizzy Alichi, a renowned Nollywood actress from Asaba, has voiced concerns about the limited recognition of Asaba filmmakers due to inadequate production funding.

In a recent interview, Alichi highlighted the disparity in investment between Asaba and Lagos filmmakers, affecting production quality.

"The difference lies in production. Lagos takes its time, especially with props. Asaba prioritizes mass production," Alichi noted.

Despite lower budgets, Asaba actors gain widespread popularity, Alichi added, as their films reach rural audiences who cannot afford streaming services or cinema tickets.

"Most Asaba actors are popular due to low-budget films accessible to village women, market traders, and mechanics," she explained.

Alichi emphasized the need for Asaba filmmakers to elevate production standards.

"The world has moved beyond low-quality films; they need to step up," she concluded.

Her comments spark a crucial conversation about production values and industry recognition.
