Here's something I tell every client who's tempted to DIY their brand:

Most bad designs aren't bad because of the colours. They're bad because of the FONTS.

Here are 5 font pairing rules that will immediately make your designs look more professional:

1️⃣ CONTRAST IS EVERYTHING — Pair a bold serif headline font with a clean sans-serif body font. The contrast creates visual hierarchy.

2️⃣ LIMIT YOURSELF TO 2 FONTS MAX — Three fonts makes a design feel chaotic and undisciplined. Pick two and master them.

3️⃣ NEVER PAIR TWO FONTS FROM THE SAME FAMILY — They're too similar to create contrast. You'll end up with visual monotony.

4️⃣ USE FONT WEIGHT BEFORE ADDING A NEW FONT — Try Bold, Regular, and Light variations of your main font before reaching for something new.

5️⃣ SCRIPT FONTS ARE FOR ACCENTS ONLY — They're beautiful but illegible at body copy size. Use them sparingly for emphasis only.
