I was in my house when one of my friends called and told me he had seen my wife with another man at a hotel around Rayfield, here in Jos.

Ah! My mouth opened. I stood up and went to a corner to answer the call.

I asked him if he was sure it was my wife he saw.

He said yes.

"Praises, I no fit lie give you. Na your madam I see enter hotel not too long ago with a man. Na she drop from him ride. I had to call you sharply because you na my guy and the thing shock me."

I didn't want to tell him my wife was sitting beside me in the parlor and we were both watching a movie together.

I just played along.

"Which hotel is that?"

"Sweetness lodge."

"Bro enter there and see where my wife and the man is entering, quickly."

He ended the call.

I returned to my wife and cuddled her closer. She looked at me.

"Baby, what's wrong?"

"I just want to cuddle the woman I love."

She chuckled and held me tight.

Minutes later my friend called me.

"Bro, I got their hotel room number from the receptionist. Your wife dey room 120 now. Kai! What do women really want?"

I asked him to drive down to my house quickly and pick me so we can go there. He said okay and ended the call.

Less than twenty minutes later he was in my house. He knocked on the door and I told him to come in.

He was shocked when he saw my wife lying on my chest.

My friend was speechless. Sweat was already all over his face.

My wife served him food and he ate. After an hour he left. The following day he met me at the office and said to me.

"Why didn't you tell me it was not your wife?"

I smiled.

"With the way you sounded so sure if I had told you, you will not believe. You will think I am covering up for her. So I allowed you to confirm, and come home so you can see that it was not my wife and can never be her."

My friend buried his head in shame.

You see what has broken many relationships today is a bad report.

Many of us are too quick to spread bad reports about another.
