NARICT Hosts Aliyu Abbas Sickle Cell Charitable Foundation on Collaboration Visit

The National Research Institute for Chemical Technology (NARICT) received a delegation from the Aliyu Abbas Sickle Cell Charitable Foundation, founded by Her Excellency, Hajiya Hussaina Tajudeen Abbas, wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, on a courtesy visit to the Director-General/CEO of the Institute, Engr. Dr. Kabiru Mu’azu.

The delegation, led by the Foundation’s Chairman, Malam Ridwan A. Dalhat, sought collaboration with NARICT in support of the Foundation’s humanitarian mission of assisting individuals living with sickle cell disorder and promoting awareness about the condition.

Speaking during the meeting, the Chairman explained that the Foundation was established in memory of Her Excellency’s late child, Aliyu Abbas, who passed away from sickle cell anaemia. He noted that the painful experience inspired her commitment to supporting sickle cell patients and creating awareness nationwide.

In his remarks, Engr. Dr. Kabiru Mu’azu commended the Foundation for its noble initiative and shared personal experiences relating to sickle cell disorder. He emphasized that the condition is both preventable and manageable with proper awareness, diagnosis, and care. The DG/CEO also assured the Foundation of NARICT’s support through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, subject to available capacity.

Also speaking, the Head of the Planning and Policy Analysis Department, Mr. Hickson B. Gibbor, appreciated the delegation for the visit and encouraged the Foundation to expand partnerships with stakeholders and other institutions.

The visit ended with appreciation from the Foundation, closing prayers, and group photographs.

NARICT DG/CEO Attends 3-Day Workshop on Science, Technology and Innovation to Align with the Renewed Hope Agenda

The Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Research Institute for Chemical Technology (NARICT), Engr. Dr. Kabiru Mu'azu, is attending a three-day workshop on Science, Technology and Innovation holding at the Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja, from Tuesday, May 12 to Thursday, May 14, 2026.

The workshop was convened to align the activities of the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science & Technology and its agencies with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It brought together Directors General and Chief Executives of the Ministry’s agencies and parastatals to coordinate research priorities, strengthen collaboration, and accelerate the delivery of innovation-driven solutions for national development.

The event was formally declared open by the Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science & Technology Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh SAN.

Speaking at the workshop, the Honourable Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to translating research into practical technologies that support industrial growth, job creation, as well as food and energy security. He noted that alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda would ensure that NARICT’s programmes directly contribute to the administration’s goals of economic diversification and technological self-reliance.

The workshop features technical sessions, policy dialogues, and strategic planning meetings aimed at streamlining mandates, reducing duplication, and improving the commercialization of research outputs across the Ministry’s agencies.

The workshop is co-hosted by the UK–West Africa Sankore Project and supported by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
