It keeps us on the financial treadmill, earning to pay down principal and interest, leaving little left over to save, invest, or build assets.

Your focus should be on minimizing or eliminating this high interest consumer debt.
Every Naira saved on interest is a Naira you can redirect towards building your own wealth, whether that's an emergency fund, investments, or purchasing income generating assets (what Kiyosaki calls 'good debt,' like a mortgage on a rental property).
