UYO NIG STAKE PRIESTHOOD MEETING CALLS MEN TO RIGHTEOUS EXERCISE OF GOD’S AUTHORITY

The Uyo Nigeria Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently held its Stake Priesthood General Meeting at the stake center, located at No. 35 Edet Akpan Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, with a strong emphasis on the sacred nature of the priesthood and the necessity of righteous living.

The meeting brought together priesthood holders from across the stake for instruction, reflection, and spiritual renewal.

Speaking at the meeting, Uyo Stake President, Adiel Ntuk, charged all priesthood bearers to exercise the authority of God with righteousness, humility, and love.

Drawing extensively from Doctrine and Covenants 121:33–46, he reminded the brethren that the powers of heaven are inseparably connected with righteousness and cannot be controlled or handled through pride, ambition, or unrighteous dominion.

He taught that while many are called to serve, only those who live by persuasion, long-suffering, gentleness, meekness, and charity are chosen to enjoy the full blessings of the priesthood.

President Ntuk emphasized that any attempt to misuse priesthood authority grieves the Spirit of the Lord and results in the withdrawal of divine power.

He encouraged priesthood holders to cultivate pure knowledge, kindness, and unfeigned love, assuring them that obedience to these principles invites the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost and enduring confidence in the presence of God.

Further urging the men to rise to their priesthood responsibilities, the stake president taught that greater commitment and faithfulness attract greater blessings from heaven.

He reminded those who have received the priesthood of the importance of honoring the oath and covenants associated with it, describing faithful service as essential to personal growth and the strengthening of families and the Church.

In reinforcing the call to diligent service, President Ntuk also read from Doctrine and Covenants section 4, highlighting the Lord’s declaration that “a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men.”

He encouraged priesthood holders to serve God with all their heart, might, mind, and strength, and to develop Christlike attributes such as faith, virtue, knowledge, patience, humility, and charity as they labor in the Lord’s vineyard.

The high point of the Stake Priesthood General Meeting was the ordination of more prospective Elders into the Melchizedek Priesthood, a sacred ordinance that underscored the continued growth of the Church in the Uyo Nigeria Stake.

The meeting concluded in a spirit of reverence and renewed commitment, as priesthood holders departed with a strengthened resolve to live righteously and magnify their callings in the service of God and humanity.
