MISSION STATEMENT OF SOCIETY FOR INTERACTIVE DIALOGUE AND SOCIAL CHANGE
(The Welfare of the People is the Highest Law)
Society for Interactive Dialogue and Social Change Is a non-governmental organization created to provide a platform for effective exchange of information, ideas and ideologies through formal discussions, negotiations and networking in order to bring to an end health, societal, social inequalities and injustice by proffering solutions to health, societal and life threatening challenges and to implement such solutions proffered in the course of the dialogue in order to effect societal and desired change.
Martin Luther King, Jr. is of the opinion that “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Without justice and equal access to societal resources available, peace and development cannot be attained.
From the annals and pages of history, no desired change, societal change or development in any field or sector of the society, community or in the world is achieved via violence, rancour, bloodshed or agitation but through in-depth, sincere, committed and innovative discussions, dialogues, negotiations and compromise to achieve the desired change, development of ideas and solutions geared towards resolution of epidemics and conflicts. In the words of Mahatma Gandhi the great advocate of peaceful resistance to oppression, who described nonviolence as “the greatest force at the disposal of mankind. It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction devised by the ingenuity of man.”
Without dialogue and collective reasoning there is bound to be an impasse in our society, the Society for Interactive Dialogue and Social Change is created to provide a bridge over the impasses that dog our society as a result of the unequal distribution of wealth in the society, the limited opportunities in the area of education, advocacy, enlightenment, health care and the high level of unemployment, poverty and ignorance.
Thomas Jefferson, author of the American Declaration of Independence, declared that “The care of human life and happiness and not their destruction is the first and only legitimate object of good government.” To this end, the Society for Interactive Dialogue and Social Change is non-governmental organization that partners with government agencies and parastatals, corporate entities, individuals and other charitable organizations in order to achieve its goals.
The Society for Interactive Dialogue and Social Change is also a charitable organization that dispenses assistance to the needy people in the society in order to bridge the gap between the ideologies of our society and the realities of our society.
