FIRST JOHN

Here, John is enjoying a delightful fellowship with this our God who is light, love and life . John desperately desires that his spiritual children enjoy the same fellowship with our God of light. We must walk in light and not in darkness.
Two major roadblocks/ Setback to walking in light are - falling in love with the world and falling for the alluring lies of false teachers ( 1John 2,15-17, 2 Peter 2-1). Since we are His children, we must walk in love. In fact, John says that if we do not love, we do not know Him. Love he says is more than words, it is actions! Love is giving, not getting.
Biblical love is unconditional in it's nature because God is love. Those who fellowship with Him must possess His quality of life. Note that spiritual life begins with spiritual birth which occurs through faith in Jesus Christ who infuses us with God's eternal life
