As people keep debating about the Balon d'Or nominations, I’ve noticed many opinions focusing on Vinícius Júnior and his deserving candidacy. While I absolutely understand the passion behind the support for Vini, I believe it’s important to also review Rodri’s stats, contributions and achievements last football season.

Let’s not forget that the Balon d'Or is awarded to the world’s best player, not just the standout performer in the UEFA Champions League but across all football competitions. When we compare the statistics of Rodri and Vinícius, Rodri has consistently outperformed Vini both at the club level and internationally. His contributions to Manchester City’s success: winning EPL, Uefa super cup and World Club cup cannot be overlooked. Also, Rodri also played a crucial role in Spain's victory at Euro2024 to the extend of being awarded the Best Player of the Tournament. Without any doubt, Rodri is the lifeblood of both Manchester City and the Spanish national team.

On the other hand, Vini’s performances at home have been very poor with no impact. Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that his on-field behavior has raised questions about sportsmanship, a habit that doesn’t align with the ideals of the Balon d'Or.

Let’s not let emotions cloud our judgment. This isn’t about racism or any other external factors; it’s about recognizing true merit based on performance and fair play. Both players have their strengths, but we need to evaluate them fairly and objectively.

The Balon d'Or is about recognizing the best of the best and Rodri has outperformed all other contenders.
