Just because a player played in the last 90s or 20s or even 80s doesn’t necessarily mean he was a better footballer than players of this generation.

Some people still believe Ronaldo R9 is a better footballer than Cristiano Ronaldo and when they say that they think people would think they have been watching football for a lifetime. That’s one big fallacy.

If you’re a good footballer, your numbers will reflect it. Just like the Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo debate, we try to tell who’s better by the use of numbers.

If Ronaldo or Messi played in the 80s, they would still be as good as they were in their prime, and if Ronaldo R9 played in their generation, he’d not be better than he did in his generation.

Goalkeepers are ranked by saves and clean sheets. These are numbers too but just because a player has better stats than your favourite, numbers can be ‘deceiving’.

I think with what Fernandes has done in football, I can compare him with any footballer (both past and present) in his position. His numbers are unbelievable.
