We are very proud to be one of the sponsors of Arctic Basecamp at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Arctic Basecamp is a team of Arctic experts and scientists who have brought the Arctic to the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting at Davos. They set up a real Arctic science basecamp, with an expedition tent which acts as a workplace during the day and a dormitory at night, camping in sub-zero temperatures to bring a message of global risk to the world leaders at the WEF.

But what have tug people to do with this mission and why was Novatug present in Davos anyway? As a fan, or maybe a critic, of our CARROUSEL RAVE TUG (CRT) you might know of our own mission to reduce the footprint of any tug. By designing smarter boats. And putting thrust in nature. Because we are aware of the risks of global heating we take action. By further developing our CRT and by sponsoring inspiring people and organizations. We support the youth, like Greta, towards a sustainable future. That’s why Arctic Basecamp, that’s why Davos.

For a few decades the book ‘Tug use in ports’ has been known as the tug bible. Recommended by the International Maritime Organization. A book by captain Henk Hensen.

One interesting fact discussed in the book, is that in order to keep a port’s tug services up to date and to ensure safe, smooth ship handling, it is essential to keep abreast of developments in harbor towage and shipping. “It may be necessary to reconsider the traditional approach”, Hensen says.

We can only agree with that.

From November 19th till the 21st, we will be present at AAPA Latino 2019! The Latin American congress of ports is one of the biggest port events of the world. This year it will find place in Miami. There will be more than 40 speakers and international experts. Talking, among other things, about the latest trends in investments and port development.
