Codex Mortis, Book of the Dead
Inspired by bands like early Emperor, Cradle of Filth, Hypocrisy and Dissection, Dirk Willems (ex-Bloodphemy, ex-Once Begotten) and Mathieu Westerveld (ex-Bodyfarm) stuck their heads together in 2017 to create Codex Mortis; a classical influenced black/death metal band.
The search for like-minded musicians started and found in Alex Schollema (Phlebotomized) the right man for the drums. And soon after Jeroen van Aernsbergen (ex-Cavitation) and Steven van Lint (Wrang, Weltschmerz) were recruted for the guitars and Codex Mortis completed the line-up.
In 2019, Steven decided to leave the band after completing recordings for the debut-album . He was replaced by Arjan Van Dune (Bloodphemy, Ex-Funeral W***e)
Their debut album ‘What Befalls of Tainted Souls’, recorded, mixed and mastered by JanWillem van Voorst (Pestilence, Bleeding Gods, Graceless), is set to be released in 2020.
