This newly built freestanding house is a seamless blend of modern architecture and nature. Designed to embrace the outdoors, its expansive glass walls offer uninterrupted views of the surrounding greenery, creating an open, airy atmosphere. The villa features wide terraces and open-plan living spaces that flow effortlessly into a spacious garden, making outdoor living a central part of daily life.

The South African family who resides here enjoys the home’s balance between sleek, contemporary design and a deep connection to nature, reflecting their appreciation for both modern comforts and the beauty of the outdoors.

The facade of our project on the Blasiusstraat is finally finished! Built from sustainable bricks and sustainable untreated wood window frames, this eco-friendly house forms a true oasis in Amsterdam Oost. The approximately 5 meter high extension is lowered 60cm into the ground to be able create a floor with a bedroom (on the top right side of the photo) and an almost 5 meter high void (on the left side of the photo). The three doors to the garden can all be opened to create an indoor-outdoor connection. More photos will follow when the interior is finished 📸

Close to the center of Utrecht the construction has started on this 1920s house. The extension at the back will be one of a kind, with curved glass and curved window frames made from Accoya wood. This extension forms the perfect connection between inside and outside. In the existing building all floors have been completely stripped and redesigned to modern standards. Check out our newest house extension for a project in Amstelveen. Sustainability was one of the key factors of the design: the walls and roof are from wood construction, the facade cladding and window frames are built from Accoya wood and the roof contains a “natuurdak”: a very biodiverse type of green roof that can store and re-use large amounts of rain water.

Design-wise this extension is really one of a kind: the existing extension was demolished and replaced for a 6.2x6.5m open space layout acting as a living area and gallery space combined. Just one piece of furniture, a modular sofa, attracts all the attention in the heart of this space. Other unique features in this space are the planter which is integrated in the concrete foundation and the high row of windows along one of the 6.5m long side walls.

On the top floor the extension is set back and houses one bedroom and an office space. The large square shaped windows offer views on the Amsterdam Forest and the green roof of the floor below.

We had the opportunity to work on an exciting proposal for the redevelopment of Fort Honswijk, one of the many forts along the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie and finished 2nd place.

Together with out client, we set up a spatial approach on how to transform the existing buildings and landscape within the fort to turn this vacant place into an interesting new destination within the Utrecht region. 

The new ‘Heldenfort’ offers space for outdoor activities, a museum, a cafe with event space, a pop-up restaurant, group accommodations and even bed and breakfast bunkers.
The interventions proposed within the plan for the Heldenfort provide new sightlines and connections between historically valuable structures and make the area pedestrian-friendly. For example, passageways are introduced within several existing buildings - creating views to the bunkers behind them. By working with different forms of surfacing, different types of paths are introduced that will open up the public and more private areas of the plan. Part of the existing pavement will make way for greenery, reinforcing the originally green character of the fort and opening up space for a vegetable garden and a playing and activity field.

The plan repurposes the existing buildings and strengthens the connection between them turning the fort into a beautiful, fun and educational destination for young and old for the coming decades.

New finished project! For a British family with two teenage children HOP designed the complete renovation of a three storey apartment near the Vondelpark in Amsterdam. The house hadn't been worked on for many years and was in desperate need of a new layout, new electricity / plumbing, new interior finishes + furniture and the restoration of existing ornament around doors and on ceilings.

This series shows the third floor containing the kitchen, dining and living area. The kitchen has been carefully detailed with wood framing around the cabinetry in two different colors: oak wood with a deep blue finish and natural oak cabinets from floor to ceiling at the back wall containing the ovens and refrigerator. A special quartzite stone with a strong marble-like appearance creates an extra lively atmosphere. The natural materials are complemented by brass details such as Buster and Punch handle bars and lighting fixtures that have been imported from the UK.
