Lawin Ramelinck
One asked the question who are you? and I wonder why, what do they seek to know? And what do I seek or need to share? Do I simply start by saying my name and follow up with my profession, and skills that I possess? I am Lawin Ramelinck and? Now what? What ‘’label’’ shall I give myself today? Perhaps, the artist who makes ‘’..?..’’garments and drawings, ‘’the artist who brings his imaginary world to life’’, creating a surrealistic reality of strange and unusual art,‘’ De kunstenaar’’, who revisits his dreams and nightmares through fashion and art, creating a dark enchanted atmosphere of gloomy tales, or just ‘’the strange artist, known for his dark, light, melancholic gloomy and mysterious style of artwork’’.
The students of a Master Program Practice Held in Common will organize an exhibition from the 30th of June till the 3rd of July, 2022.
The exhibition will be a showcase of their final works, individual and collaborative projects as well as a shared space for interactive workshops and performances.
It is a public open event therefore anyone interested in visiting their exhibition is very welcome!

Research track the Linen Project
Recently a lot has happened in the Linen Project. Last month the flax field at Netherlands Open Air Museum was seeded, according to tradition, exactly 100 days after the new year. This year the heirloom flax varieties Fries Witbloei, Fries Paarsbloei, Solido and Saskia as well as the ‘modern’ variety Natasja were sown, using a manually driven seed drill.
The Linen Stewards of 2022 sowed their flax field at local organic farm De Horsterhof on 23 April. A little later than 100 days after the new year, but hopefully benefitting from additional rainfall in between. With gentle sunshine on the day, less gentle wind gusts meant that the farm's tried and trusted hand-driven seed drill was used to place the seeds directly in the soil, rather than casting the seeds by hand as the linen stewards had intended.
On Friday the 22nd of April opened the exhibition ‘In Search of the Pluriverse’ at Het Nieuwe Instituut. This exhibition encounters alternative perspectives, radical imaginations and a world in which many worlds can thrive and shows the Linen Stewards contributions amongst others. A felted flax bodywarmer, with material developed by linen steward Heleen Klopper contains a textile handwoven by Eva Klee from linen yarn spun from The Linen Project’s sublime 2019 flax harvest. This forms a ‘safety net’ for the shorter, brittle fibres from the Shared Stewardship 2020 flax crop. The felting properties of wool are used to fuse these into one fabric. Working together with fellow linen stewards of 2020, Sebastiaan Kramer and Sjaak Hullekes, the design of a bodywarmer emerged. Besides the felted flax bodywarmer the collective garment makers’ work in progress is on view in the exhibition.
Last but definitely not least, recently the first Linnen Kavels pre-order and introduction day took place. The second event will be on June 10 in Duiven. Find more information in the previous post and in the bio of
