Passive House School

We’ve completed the Passive House certification of a 189 m² single-family house in Cork, Ireland. 🇮🇪

The house is built with a timber structure, using cellulose insulation, an internal OSB layer, and wood fiber boards externally. A natural material palette but one that demands precision, especially when it comes to airtightness and moisture control.

What makes this project particularly interesting is how it’s heated:
👉 There is no traditional heating system.
Instead, the house is heated through the supply air of the MVHR system, via a compact unit.

Performance highlights:
• Heating demand: right at the Passive House limit (15 kWh/m²a)
• Airtightness: 0.5 ACH
• Overheating: only 1% of the year
• PER: just 42 kWh/m²a

📌 Projects like this are a good reminder:
Passive House is not about adding more systems .... it’s about reducing the need for them altogether.
