Happy pride month !
🏳️🌈 Pride honours the people who have fought and risked their lives (be)for(e) us. Many freedoms today were won through decades of activism, protest and personal sacrifice. Pride is a protest.
People within the LGBTQIA+ community battle with discrimination and violence in the streets, in bars, at work, at school and even at home.
We can change it together! we offer a number of services customised to the different spaces and organisations that offer practical tools to speak out and take action when unwanted behaviour, sexual harassment or violence occurs.

Last week marked the Week Against Sexual Street Harassment in Rotterdam.
The fourth edition of this awareness month focused on raising awareness and empowering people to take action against unwanted behaviour in public spaces.
Throughout the campaign, we took action through a range of activities. We joined the Night Against Sexual Violence by Plan International and were present at Schouwburgplein to collaborate in the installation “Psst.. Hey Schatje!”. Through this installation, visitors were able to experience the impact of street harassment first-hand. Our team was there to support visitors and share practical ways to intervene safely using our bystander intervention method and the 5Ds.
Fairspace founder Laura also joined a panel discussion at Ferry Rotterdam on the experiences of q***r women in public spaces. Together, we discussed the street harassment legislation and how bystander intervention can help when people witness harassment in public.
Join the 5Ds movement! Want to learn more about bystander intervention? Take our free online training via our website. Link in our Linktree.

Have you heard of the prototype paradox?
This paradox points to the way in which women who do not look or act stereotypically feminine are less likely to be seen as victims of harassment. This results in bystanders intervening later, when they see this harassment happen.
