Positron Emission Tomography (PET), is a powerful imaging technique that allows researchers to study the activity of cells and tissues within the body. Within Immune-Image, PET imaging is used to study the activity of immune cells in the body. Specifically, researchers are using PET tracers that bind to specific molecules on the surface of immune cells, such as CD8 (cytotoxic T cells) or CD163 (immunosuppressive macrophages). Personalized medicine is an important approach to cancer treatment. It has been shown that tumors can have different genetic mutations and responses to treatment, even within the same type of cancer. Immune-Image is developing advanced imaging techniques to support personalized treatment, which will improve the cancer patient’s survival and quality of life.
