‘Onism - noun - the frustration of being stuck in just one body, that inhabits only one place at a time. The awareness of how little of the world you will experience’.

This exhibition explores the way that nature magnifies the self, a sense of freedom that almost satisfies the impossible yearning to follow multiple paths. Each work preserves a piece of that power, inviting the viewer to ground and revitalise themselves through encounters with the sublime.

Loose strokes and bold colour capture the atmosphere of specific
moments from the artist’s precious time in nature. The effect is twofold: we are reminded of not only the grand scale of nature, but also the fleetingness of moments within it. In the artist’s vision, this is cause for joy rather than sorrow, reminding us to embrace the spontaneous, the simple, the authentic.

Matthew Fentem is an Artist and Architect. Born in England, he studied in Denmark, and moved to Oslo in 2018 to practice architecture and be closer to nature and the wilderness.
