🎅 What do people usually do during Christmas holidays in Norway after Christmas Eve? 🎅

😇 This is a period of peace and comfort at home, quiet working days, school holidays, family visits and special Christmas dishes such as porridge, gingerbread, etc. 😇

🎄 During the Christmas period, it is usual to watch Christmas films and programs: Amalies jul, Jul I Svingen, Snøfall, Jul I Blåfjell, Migrapolis julespesiel, Migrapolis Nå er det jul igjen, Tre nøtter til Askepott, Karsten og Petra and many others.🎄

🍪 Throughout December, Norwegians traditionally bake cookies: pepperkaker, serinakaker, goro, fattigmann, smultringer, sjakkruter, julekaker. In the old days, Norwegian housewives had to bake at least seven different types of cookies for Christmas, now they are limited to two or three. 🍪

🐐 Norway has a wonderful tradition of “julebukk” during the “romjul” period of December 27th - 30th, when young people and children walk from farm to farm, playing and singing Christmas carols. One of the groups is always dressed as goats, sometimes with a mask made of straw, and they receive food and drinks as a reward. Unfortunately, at present this tradition has been replaced by Halloween in cities, but in some villages the tradition is still alive. 🐐

🎡 As in many European countries, on Christmas Eve, most Norwegian cities host traditional Christmas markets and Christmas shows. All cities and villages are decorated with lights and garlands, and some go for more unusual ventures. For example, in Bergen, kindergartens, schools, businesses and simply city residents build a whole gingerbread city from gingerbread cookies every year. This tradition dates back to 1991. If you are in Bergen, be sure to visit PEPPERKAKEBYEN. 🎡

🎠 In winter, the town of Røros, with its unique ancient architecture, turns into a real fairy tale. And in Drøbak visit Tregaarden, a beautiful Christmas shop. Original glassware can be purchased at the Hadeland Glassverk glass workshop near Oslo. 🎠
