When I taught at the British Institute of Modern Music, I asked the students what they thought an audience really wants.

The reasoning was that people always get so nervous about their part to play. Yet who we should really be focussed on is the AUDIENCE, not ourselves!

Yes, being a good peformer means preparation and owning your performance, yet I feel that it is time to put thought into what we have to offer a public?
