In September 2025, READ was named a 2025 Library of Congress Literacy Awards Successful Practices Honoree—recognizing effective, community-led approaches to advancing literacy.
The in-person symposium planned for January was canceled due to a snowstorm, but READ will instead take part in an online public event on June 10.

Today is the Library Day!

This time, we spent some time with one of the most marginalised communities, the Madheshi Dalit community, who are building a library to nurture dreams for their children. Their courage reminds us that libraries are not just about books, they are about dignity, hope, and opportunity.

Every library must reach those who have been left out the most. Each step we take should ensure that no child, no woman, no community is left behind.

On this Library Day, let us commit to building libraries that truly embody inclusion, spaces where every dream finds a shelf and every voice finds a place.
