We are excited to share that NAXA and DPNet Nepal signed an MOU to explore the use of data and frontier technologies in strengthening disaster response in Nepal. As part of this initiative, NAXA and DPNet will collaboratively work on the following activities:

The sixth Bamboo Series event, held on November 13, 2024, in Kathmandu, focused on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and emergency preparedness. Organized by the NET Consortium with DPNet and other key partners, the event highlighted the private sector's crucial role in building resilience through strategic CSR investments, pre-disaster interventions, and sustainable practices. Experts and officials emphasized integrating DRR into CSR policies, fostering cross-sector collaboration, and incentivizing innovative, community-focused initiatives. The event concluded with task forces to enhance coordination and advance Nepalโ€™s disaster resilience agenda.

The Nepal Geological Society (NGS), in collaboration with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) and DPNet Nepal, hosted a symposium for the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) 2024 on October 29 in Kathmandu. Centered on the theme โ€œEmpowering the Next Generation for a Resilient Future,โ€ the event brought together diverse stakeholders to discuss strategies for mitigating disaster risks in Nepal. The symposium included inaugural remarks emphasizing DRR integration into development, technical sessions on seismic safety, youth empowerment, and cascading hazards, and panel discussions addressing challenges in implementing DRR measures. Key outcomes highlighted the importance of youth involvement, gender-sensitive approaches, and incorporating indigenous knowledge with modern tools. Participants reflected on insights from APMCDRR 2024, reaffirming Nepalโ€™s commitment to regional resilience-building and actionable strategies for disaster risk reduction.
