Clean Air Network Nepal

On 31 January 2026, NYCA successfully organized a Cycle Rally for Clean Air with support from Animal Nepal and Climate Smart Cities.

This rally aimed to raise awareness about air pollution, which reaches its peak during the winter season, and to encourage the community to take action for a cleaner environment.

Participants from across the city came together to promote sustainable practices, such as cycling, reducing emissions, and supporting clean energy initiatives. The rally was not just a ride but a movement, demonstrating that collective effort can make a real difference in protecting our air and our health.

CANN and CEN teams visited Farsidol (Ward 22, Lalitpur), a residential settlement where polluted air lingers with no escape. Rising cases of COPD, heart disease, and respiratory illness are no longer statistics—they are lived realities, and a direct violation of the constitutional right to a clean environment.

Change begins with evidence. We have installed an air quality sensor in Farsidol to turn suffering into data and data into action.

We stand with the people of Farsidol—because clean air is not a privilege, it is a right.

Measured in terms of life expectancy, is the greatest threat to human health in Nepal, taking more than 3 years off the average Nepalese's life, and over 5 years in its most polluted districts. More from University of Chicago Air 2025
