Slow Woven Textile Studio

I've been selling so much work lately I can't keep up. Seriously, the last few throw blankets have been sold straight off the loom - and I even sold one that was still wet after wet finishing! OMG! 🙃 It's so fun, but I also seriously need a chance to play catch up!

Sooooo, if you were wondering if I have an Open Day this Sunday (because you wouldn't have seen it advertised), the answer is yes 🧡 The studio is always open on the first Sunday of the month 10am - 4pm, but this month is going to be super low key.

There's not much of my work on the gallery walls but you're welcome to come and keep me company while I put a warp on my huge Nitschke floor loom - and of course the table looms are set up if you want to have a go at weaving yourself and make a cute mug rug to take home.

*In this photo I am winding a warp. The warp is the vertical threads that run from the front to the back of the loom, through which you weave your weft (horizontal threads).

Two of my lovely nephews came and helped me in the studio this weekend!

At my upcoming Learn to Weave workshops we will be using New Zealand made Ashford 4-shaft table looms from Ashford Wheels & Looms, so Maximus and Stirling came to help me get started putting them together.

The boys were a joy to work with and it was actually pretty straight forward with clear instructions and just a few tools. We now have three completed, with just five to go and plenty of time before the first workshop on the 23rd/24th of May!
