Heads up teams! There have been a couple of minor tweaks to the NZBA competition calendar for the remainder of the season.
We’re keen to finish 2026 with a bang, so let’s get these last four comps absolutely chocka with teams. If you’ve been on the fence about entering, now’s the time to lock it in, round up your mates, and get your entries sorted. We have some well seasoned, experienced pitmasters keen to help & mentor any new teams, so if you're brand new but want to know more, please reach out!

Turns out that the DirtyBird BBQ chicken Seasoning from Rum and Que absolutely SLAPS on steak, honesty im speechless 🙊
This .96Kg Tommahawk from Mapari Meats needed no special treatment, just seasoned and into the Masterbuilt NZ 1050 at 250f With a couple of chunks of Apple wood from Urban Lumberjack until it hit an internal temperature of 115f thanks to the FireBoard NZ SPARK
Once at temp it went into a bath of beef tallow to rest while i get some Heat Beads screaming hot for a quick sear and a finished temp between 130-135f
Trust me, your gonna want to give DirtyBird BBQ seasoning a go on steak 😉
