Why risk is higher: Pacific men often get diagnosed later, partly due to less screening and cultural hesitation to discuss symptoms.

How to reduce risk:

🧪 Ask your GP about PSA testing from age 45–50 (earlier if family history).

🚶 Stay active — regular exercise helps hormone balance and overall health.

🥦 Eat more plant-based foods and less processed meat.

🗣️ Talk openly with family and friends — normalizing men’s health conversations saves lives.

Colorectal (Bowel) Cancer
Why risk is higher: Diet changes — more processed foods, less fibre — and delayed screening.

How to reduce risk:

🥬 Eat fibre-rich foods: vegetables, fruits, whole grains, taro, kumara, brown rice.

🚫 Cut down on red and processed meats.

🚶 Exercise regularly — even walking 30 minutes daily helps.

💩 Do bowel screening when invited (NZ’s free programme starts at age 60, but you can request earlier testing if concerned).

🚭 Avoid smoking — it increases bowel and other cancer risks.
