Kia ora e te whaanau,

Welcome to Term 3 at View Road School! Our kaiako are looking forward to seeing all of kids back Monday 20th July at 9.00AM.

This term our learning is around "Kimihia too reo, Whakatiaho too koo rero, Tuhia ki te Ao" - Find Your Voice, Shape Your Story, Share It With the World. Akonga will explore the power of storytelling and self-expression with a focus on finding their voice and sharing who they are with confidence and pride. By developing personal and collective narratives through oral language, writing, performance, and the arts, students will deepen their understanding of identity, culture, and connection to others. This learning will build progressively towards a whole-school production, where akonga collaborate to shape and perform stories that reflect diverse perspectives and experiences to share their stories with an authentic audience within the school community and beyond. Be on the lookout for tickets!

The weather continues to be patchy so please encourage your child to wear their school uniform with pride, including black bottoms. If you do need help with this please let us know.

As we head into a new term, let's remember that the first few days are a time for our tamariki to reconnect with friends, build positive relationships, settle back into routines, and rediscover the joy of learning. As parents and caregivers, one of the greatest gifts we can give our children is encouragement. Encourage them to be kind, welcoming and inclusive, but also to be confident enough to follow their own path, make good choices, and stay true to who they are—even when it's not the easiest option. Every child settles back into school differently, and that's okay. Let's celebrate the small wins, support one another, and work together as a school community to help every child have a positive and successful start to the term. When our tamariki feel safe, connected and valued, the learning naturally follows.

If you have any patai or wish to discuss anything around your child or View Road School, please sing out via phone call, email, DM or just pop into the office.

Aroha mai, aroha atu

We've been lucky enough to be part of the Nga Iti Kahurangi Project to refurbish our classrooms. This week they've started upgrading our carpet! We didn't get a picture of Mrs Holmes testing it out by rolling through Whare Marino 🤷‍♂️
