Great day at FieldDays with Toula- Southland Carbon. Wool and biochar new ideas that are sustainable, safe and highly visible. First shorn lambswool felt from Ware Ware Station, mid micron, dyed woven and felted in Mt Wellington, Auckland. Seen on Country Calendar last Sunday. Safety Wear with a designer’s edge, created in our Atelier in Grey Lynn. A great reaction to our products with attention to construction and fit. The Fluoro orange is a great disruptor.

At a star-studded red-carpet gala in Los Angeles packed with billionaires, executives, and Hollywood icons, David Attenborough took the stage to accept a Lifetime Impact Award — and delivered a moment no one will forget.
Instead of the usual thank-you speech, the legendary broadcaster and environmental advocate looked straight into the eyes of the powerful crowd and spoke with raw, unfiltered courage:
“We celebrate under these lights while so many people outside are struggling just to survive. If your platform reaches millions and you stay silent for those who are never heard, then you aren’t serving humanity — you’re just amplifying noise.”
The room went completely silent. He continued, calm yet unwavering, his voice carrying the weight of decades spent documenting the natural world and warning humanity about injustice, inequality, and environmental collapse:
“When you have more than you need, it stops being just yours. It becomes your responsibility to help those who are still struggling at the bottom.”
Then came the part that left everyone stunned. That same night, David Attenborough announced he is directing all proceeds from upcoming global environmental initiatives, major conservation campaigns, and a significant portion of personal and institutional fundraising efforts — totaling an estimated $160 million — to women’s health programs, climate action efforts, wildlife conservation, and educational opportunities for underprivileged children worldwide.
His final words hit like a closing statement to the establishment he has challenged throughout his career:
“Legacy is not measured by what you keep. It is measured by what you give to change lives.”
In an era of empty gestures, David Attenborough just reminded the world what real impact looks like.
