I created a successful business from the dinner table of my house, while raising my twin girls mostly alone.
I never really got the right answer to say, never gave me the credits that I really deserved. After seen my business glowing and been calling attention from so many people, I realized I’ve done something incredible. I’ve created a successful business while raising my twin girls pretty much solo. How and why?
My partner is a pilot and goes overseas a lot and he hasn’t got immediately family, my family lives in Brazil and I don’t have a nanny. Never had someone to looking after my kids.
After a few years working in the Government Industry, and loving it, I got pregnant and, and not just that, it was a twin pregnancy. My beautiful girls (Ruby & Olivia) arrived naturally to complete my life on 26/06/2014.
Twin babies can be quite challenging, but I’ve mastered it by doing everything by myself and not having a postpartum depression (I guess). While I loved my job within the New Zealand Government, it was shift job and I could not keep doing it for a few reasons.
First, I could not live far from my creation anymore and secondly how in earth I could work 4-nights shifts in a row and look after twin babies on the next day? So, my partner and I decided would be better of if I stayed home and find something else to do from home.
Since 2008 I had a blog where I used to share my life in New Zealand, and it was quite popular back then. However, it was just for fun. Never had a single income coming from it.
I used to advertise Brazilian’s businesses in New Zealand, just as a form of keep the community together.
After a little while at home and being proud as I am, I decided to put a line on my page saying: Are there any travel agency wanting to do business with me? On that night I got at least 60 inbox messages and TXT on my phone.
Many people who were working on that market was quiet interested in my page as it was extremely popular. I even got a close friend wanting to buy it. Well, after spoken to a few of those interested people, I started to send all my potential clients to an agency in Brazil. But it did not work well. So, later as I was advertising a lot on my page, I started to get contacted directly by New Zealand’s Educational Institutes. In that moment, I realized I had more power in my hands than I thought. I decided to invest on my education and figure out what I need to do to have my own business running and so I did.
From the day 1 that I said I was in business, It never stopped, It grew and grew day by day successfully as people were used to my page and knew who I were and how honest and direct I’m with everything. On my first year working I made my 6 figure that is dreamed by many, working from the dinner table of my house, and raising my twin girls.
People then asked me, Claudia how did you do that? What is your recipe? Now I can tell you that I never given up, I never stopped, and I never had let things for later. I worked no stop for many days from 5am to midnight. Some days I had no voice after so many Skype and phone conference. Looking after hundreds of people dreams and helping them out with whatever I could. It all paid off, because today I have a great reputation and I’m honestly financially comfortable.
When you come to me with excuses or sorry for yourself because you haven’t got time or it is too hard, the only think I can tell you is that: I KNOW! But it won’t stop me. Because your success will start when you stop telling you excuses.
As you can see, it took me 7 years of full dedication, sharing humbly and honestly my own life to the world until I realized this was my business and it would make me successful now. But it was a genuine information that built up my credibility and made my dream come true.
