Lucy Anderson and Gabby Smith’s Young Lions Diary #2: Pitch day and Jimmy Fallon wisdom 23/06/2025

Our Young Lions, Lucy and Gabby, wrapped up their media pitch to the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity jury before heading straight into a lineup of inspiring sessions - from Reese Witherspoon on women-led storytelling and Jimmy Fallon on creativity, to creators like Alex Cooper and Alex Earle unpacking the evolving role of influencers in advertising.

A big week, capped off the Cannes way. We’re incredibly proud of this talented duo and everything they’ve achieved!

Clear the decks – that’s a wrap on The Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show 2025! 🎣

This year, we launched the inaugural ‘Two Hooked Competition’ – a first-of-its-kind fishing challenge celebrating the passion and competitiveness of Kiwi fishing duos. From over 180 social media entries, five pairs were selected to battle it out live at the show for the title of ‘NZ’s Fishing Duo of the Year’.

From father–daughter teams to married couples, our finalists travelled from all corners of the country for the chance to compete.

Big congratulations to Lee and Toni, who reeled in the win and scored an epic Fiordland escape for two. 🏆

How to exploit a market failure | ThinkTV 07/04/2025

"TV is dead."

We hear it all the time at Lassoo, but the numbers tell a different story. Viewers haven’t left TV. Advertisers have.

Our Head of Planning, Hamish Scott-Knight, has contributed to ThinkTV’s campaign, “The TV Advertising Paradox”, a sharp reminder that TV still delivers big on reach, attention, and ROI.

He breaks down why New Zealand’s drop in TV ad spend doesn’t match what’s actually happening with viewers or effectiveness, and how savvy marketers can take advantage of this market gap: https://www.thinktv.nz/why-tv/how-to-exploit-a-market-failure

Big cheers to the organisers Jacqueline Freeman, David Thomason, ThinkTV NZ and NZ Marketing Magazine.
