A big week of play across Auckland!šŸŒž

In mid-January, Pop Up Play delivered three activations across the city, connecting with over 200 tamariki and whānau through free, accessible play experiences, made possible by our funding partners.

On Thursday 15 January, we brought Pasifika play to Fun Fest VIP Day at Due Drop Events Centre, supported by Funfest Auckland where parents and children played side by side and tried activities like poi together.

On Saturday 17 January, thanks to Out and About Auckland - Tāmaki Makaurau and the Puketāpapa Local Board@, families at Molly Green Reserve shared how they were ā€œjust passing throughā€ but stayed to play as the local community continues to grow.

Later that afternoon, also supported through Out and About Auckland - Tāmaki Makaurau and City Centre targeted rates, Myers Park saw strong engagement, with families choosing to stay and play together in the heart of the city.

Huge thanks to our funders and partners for supporting play in our public spaces and to everyone who stopped by to join in šŸ’›

šŸ‘‰ We were also scheduled to deliver activations this coming weekend. However, due to the significant weather Auckland has experienced this week and the forecast ahead, these events will be postponed. We’ll share updated dates as soon as conditions allow and appreciate everyone’s understanding.

Activate Pop Up Play at Te Rangi Hiroa Reserve – Saturday 8 November 2025 šŸŒž

A beautiful sunny afternoon at Te Rangi Hiroa Reserve where local families stopped by to join in some fun, active play! šŸ’›

Tamariki enjoyed a mix of games and swing ball, with two 9-year-old twins declaring they didn’t want to go home! A parent shared, ā€œThank you for putting activities like this on, it really benefits the kids.ā€

Big thanks to Out and About Auckland - Tāmaki Makaurau and the Henderson-Massey Local Board for helping us bring free, active play to the community. Every activation reminds us how simple moments of play can create lasting smiles and connections.
