It's not rocket science, do it today ๐
Will you check your smoke alarms this daylight saving, question?
1. Check your smoke alarms are working by pressing the button. The end of a broom handle is a great help! ๐งน
2. While youโre there give them a little dust, a minute of maintenance could save lives!
3. Check in on elderly whฤnau or neighbours. Fifty percent of avoidable deaths in house fires are people over the age of 60. This is something we can change.

Great security tips from NZ Police
Police will be actively patrolling our rural communities over the holidays.
We encourage everyone to take steps to make sure your home and vehicles are secured as best as possible.
๐ Lock your doors and windows - even at night when you are at home asleep.
๐ Record the serial numbers of expensive electronic items and photograph these and other valuables.
๐ Keep valuables out of sight.
๐ Install an alarm system and get sensor lights fitted.
๐ Consider the use of security cameras linked to an app on your smartphone so you can monitor your property remotely.
๐ Keep garden sheds and garages locked when not in use.
๐ Keep hedges or plants around doors and windows well-trimmed - donโt give the burglar a place to hide.
๐ Don't leave vehicles unlocked or with keys inside.
๐ Park in a well-lit area or preferably a driveway or garage.
๐ Always remove all valuables from your vehicle when you exit.
๐ Note and report car registrations and descriptions of suspicious vehicles or people.
Offenders will often scope out an address prior to burgling.
Anyone who witnesses suspicious activity around your property or someone else's, call Police straight away on 111.
Other information can be provided to Police on 105, or anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
