Great security tips from NZ Police

Police will be actively patrolling our rural communities over the holidays.

We encourage everyone to take steps to make sure your home and vehicles are secured as best as possible.

🔒 Lock your doors and windows - even at night when you are at home asleep.
🔒 Record the serial numbers of expensive electronic items and photograph these and other valuables.
🔒 Keep valuables out of sight.
🔒 Install an alarm system and get sensor lights fitted.
🔒 Consider the use of security cameras linked to an app on your smartphone so you can monitor your property remotely.
🔒 Keep garden sheds and garages locked when not in use.
🔒 Keep hedges or plants around doors and windows well-trimmed - don’t give the burglar a place to hide.
🔒 Don't leave vehicles unlocked or with keys inside.
🔒 Park in a well-lit area or preferably a driveway or garage.
🔒 Always remove all valuables from your vehicle when you exit.
🔒 Note and report car registrations and descriptions of suspicious vehicles or people.

Offenders will often scope out an address prior to burgling.

Anyone who witnesses suspicious activity around your property or someone else's, call Police straight away on 111.

At this event, we’ll replace your standard license plate screws with special “Safer Screws” that make it much harder for thieves to steal your plates.

Cost: This service is FREE for Silverdale Business Members, subsidised as part of your membership.

This initiative is all about keeping our community safer, and we encourage all locals to take advantage of it.
