The first 4 days - Ride it Home.

Four days in. Lagertha is upright. The rider is mostly upright. Wales is unreasonably beautiful.
Picked her up at Motofreight near Heathrow on Monday morning, three minutes from the hotel. She fired up first try after her sea journey from Auckland.
Then I learned a few things the hard way β€” including how to not drop an adventure bike a second time after dropping it the first.
By Wednesday I was over Long Mynd in Shropshire, met a 76-year-old on the highest aqueduct in the world (two Triumphs at home, regular pub rides with his mates), and ended the day at a 1500s coachhouse in the oldest Welsh hills you can find.
The full story β€” including the dropped bike, the bad day, and what to do when the trip already feels too hard on Day 2 β€” is up on the Overland Ops blog now.

The White Pickup 26/05/2026

Riding in foreign countries, riding anywhere β€” the consequence of mistakes can be catastrophic.

Mistakes happen. We get tired. Complacent. Distracted.

Sometimes it's quick reactions, a final right decision, a blip of the throttle that saves us.

Sometimes it's the reactions of other drivers, managing to avoid us.

Sometimes it's just providence or luck.

Stay alert, stay safe everyone.

5,000 kilometres of Rocky Mountain riding done. The CFMoto 800 has been handed back to its owner in Denver and I'm heading home to New Zealand for a few days.

Then it begins. London to Auckland β€” the ride home.

Lagertha, the Husqvarna 901 Expedition that will be my partner for the next stage of this, has just landed in London.

Follow along.

No riding yet. No mountain passes.

Just paperwork, planning, and handing the bike over to be shipped halfway around the world.

This is what it actually takes to get an adventure bike from New Zealand to London and ready to ride.
