😮Wayne and Chelle Hagen - Eastern
Chelle and Wayne Hagen give incredible time, care, and dedication to our women's rugby team. Wayne is a long-standing and valued club member with deep roots at Eastern and a genuine passion for rugby. His calm, patient leadership helps players feel heard, respected, and encouraged. Chelle is always there behind the scenes, organising supplies, washing jerseys, and making sure everything runs smoothly so the team can focus on playing.
Together, Chelle and Wayne support far more than trainings and games, helping with fundraising, raffles, subs, and creating a close-knit team where everyone feels welcome.
They give their time and energy without seeking recognition, and their genuine care and encouragement have made a lasting impact on the players, team, and wider club. We truly appreciate everything they do, and they are incredibly deserving of this recognition.
😆Olivia ‘Liv’ Thomson – West Taieri
Liv is the perfect example of what it means to be a club member.
She gets stuck in wherever needed, organising uniforms, teams, coaches, gear, players, and more. She represents our juniors at Metro level, keeps everyone informed, and is always quick to respond. If Liv sees a problem, she gets it sorted. From fundraising meals for the juniors to serving on the 125th Committee, she is always willing to lend a hand. So much of what Liv does happens behind the scenes, quietly keeping everything running smoothly. Her commitment and willingness to help make her an absolute star all-rounder.
We are incredibly lucky to have Liv as part of our club.
🥰Nick Moore – Green Island
Nick Moore is an everything man at our club, from chairing the juniors to coaching Year 8s and everything in between. You will always find him around the club each weekend, running prize giving and handling the behind-the-scenes jobs so every junior team has what they need. Nick goes above and beyond for 280-odd kids across 21 teams, making what he does almost a full-time job. His big voice, loyal support, and very mediocre jokes have become part of the club tradition. With his son in Year 8 this year, GI juniors will have a very big space to fill if he does not return as chairman. He truly deserves recognition for the time and effort he has given over the last three years.
❤️Francis ‘Dribbles’ Parker – Southern Region
Francis ‘Dribbles’ Parker goes above and beyond for Southern Region rugby. Each week, he puts in huge time and effort writing detailed previews and reviews for all four games, covering team line-ups, key match factors, standout performances, and areas to improve.
Known to many as “Dribbles,” he brings genuine passion to rugby, cricket, and South Otago sport. His weekly “game of the round” score challenge on the Southern Region rugby page creates great community engagement, while his podcast gives local people the chance to share their stories and keeps supporters connected through previews and reviews.
As a true-blue Swamp Hen with 200-plus games for Owaka and counting, Francis is a loyal club man who gives so much to the game. He is a legend of the competition and is thoroughly deserving of recognition for everything he does.
