🍽️ Introducing Our Head Chef at Tahu Restaurant, Mr Shehab Altour 👨‍🍳

Kia ora, Gisborne community!
We are delighted to introduce Shehab Altour, the new Head Chef at Tahu Restaurant on Centennial Marine Drive.
Mr Shehab brings over 12 years of professional culinary experience, gained from some of the finest kitchens in Jordan and New Zealand. He has worked in multiple five-star hotels during his career, and joined our team more than two and a half years ago. He was promoted to Head Chef 7 months ago.
Since taking on the role, Tahu Restaurant has undergone a significant and positive transformation. We have received an abundance of congratulations and appreciation from our customers expressing their strong satisfaction through outstanding reviews on Google and social media platforms.

Key Professional Achievements:
• Worked in several five-star hotels in Jordan, most notably:
• Chef de Partie at Fairmont Amman Hotel (Salt Steakhouse), where he played an active role in the hotel’s opening and prepared a wide range of international dishes including American, European, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
• Demi Chef at Kempinski Hotel Amman.
• Commis II Chef at Grand Hyatt Amman
• Extensive experience in various international cuisines: Italian, Japanese, Thai, Turkish, and many more.
• Strong commitment to food safety and hygiene standards, with a focus on using fresh local seasonal ingredients.

• Competed in the Horica International Culinary Competition in Jordan (Middle East) on five occasions, winning 1st place once, 2nd place three times, and 3rd place once.
• Possesses a strong social media presence with more than 40,000 followers on Instagram ().
